Church of the Nativity

  1. The Church of the Natività di Magadan is a church, of catholic ritual, situated in the city of Magadan, in the Siberian Far East in Russia. The church serves the small catholic community survivor to the staliniani fields of job of years '30 and '40. The church today is considered a monument in memory of million persons died in the gulag Soviet.

    The church has been constructed recently: in fact in 1991 the small Russian catholic community has been helped from the archbishop of Anchorage. After to have found the land on which building up the church and the money necessary in order to erect it, the jobs for its construction are begun. The part centers them has been completed in 2002.

    To memory of the martyrdoms fallen during the oppression Stalinist, it has been painted a icona and erected a nail head dedicated to the New martyrdoms of Russia and Martiri di Kolyma, the job field near which the church rises currently.
