Mask of Sorrow

The mask of grief - monument with a height of 15 meters, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the mass repressions in the Soviet Union, which were concluded in the correctional- working camps of gulag on [Kolyme]. Sculpture was established on the knoll “steep” in Magadan on June 12, 1996. In the same year Ernst [Neizvestnyy], whose parents were also the victims of repression of the 30th years, was honored the State Prize to the Russian Federation.

    Monument is face of man, from left eye of whom flow the tears in the form of small masks. Right eye of [izobrazhen] in the form of window with the lattice. The weeping women and the beheaded man on the cross are visible on the reverse side. The copy of the typical cell of Stalin times is located inside the monument.
